Just to add to the reviews, I have also found the Chinese side of this company to be very quick to blame the teacher and to withhold class pay. Sometimes they are even rude. The penalty for unexpectedly missing a class; there is no contract language for emergencies, is a 15-class pay forfeiture. Considering the abysmally low pay, Talk915 has a huge downside. The many students are the upside, and the UK office has always been respectful.

Talk915 contracts teachers as ICs, Independent Contractors, but controls them like employees. I am surprised they have not had a classaction suit against them like what happened to VIPKid.

In its race to become the worst ESL company ever, Talk915 has now broken its current contract with teachers and will only pay half wages for classes that have absent students.

This group gets worse the longer I am with them. They have now raised the penalty of a missed class or a serious complaint to a 23-class pay deduction. It should be kept in mind that complaints can be very whimsical in nature as Chinese companies such as Talk915 continue to be engaged in free enterprise and at the same time kow tow to the CCP.

WOW! are these idiots for real??? I just have a simple question for all/any reader of this message: Does this school really have an office in the UK? If so, please share the contact info (URL, email…)

In my opinion Talk915 is only good for a stopgap measure in this gig economy. They pay either in sterling or greenbacks and only via Payoneer, which can be an added expense. The American pay is $4 for a 25 minute class. This wage is very low for a qualified and experienced native English speaker. I read on Glassdoor that students are charged $25 a class. Talk915 have call centers in the Philippines so it is probable that the many perfect ratings you see on Glassdoor are generated as part of a paid day’s work. Students can cancel and reserve classes ad lib, but teachers are subject to penalties for missed classes and even for emergencies. However, system-generated automatically booked classes can be canceled 24 hours in advance without penalty. With this ESL company It is highly advisable to take pictures of your schedule and any class problems because Talk915’s go-to position is that it is always the teacher’s fault. Most of the students are polite, but a teacher is unable to block any one troublesome student from their class. There are plenty of available students, but unfortunately the wage is so low. All the best.

I applied three weeks ago. The first steps of interview went very well and through the process of interview and on the third step I was so excited that I recorded my demo class in the exact day I got what I have asked for and sent it to my facilitator. after a week she sent a message apologizing that they were on holiday! she promised my demo lesson will be analyzed in 24/48 hours, yet again another week passed. I recieved another message from her asking me if I have any email from them?!!!!!!
again I wrote back for her and tried to be respectful and polite but they are gohsting me without giving solid reason! so unprofessional. All I expect at the moment is an email wethere it is rejection or acceptance and following the standards expected in a professional way.

    Hi there
I am seeing different information regarding salary on 3 different sites.
So please could there be some clarity – this would be great

I’m leaving this company after 4 years as the booking system has changed and I’ve lost many of my long term students. Another downer is that you’ll get stuck with students you don’t like and there’s not much you can do about it as it means closing those classes. The pay has never increased and the management changes means they are sucking as much out without giving anything back to the teachers.
On the plus side, there’s many lovely students and plenty of work but I’d rather move on as my long term students have also moved to other companies.

Can you please recommend some other company, or companies if there are better ones..? In the sea of companies it’s rather difficult to ‘choose’? I’m a non-native speaker by he way.
      Thanks!

During the application process, how did you y’all upload your youtube links? I keep pasting mine, seeing the preview, and hitting submit..only for nothing to show up. Am I just absolutely daft, or have others had this issue?

TSK is where I applied and they dumped me to talk915. They said they are partners. I said, “OK”. I have been hearing negative things about this company so I was wondering. I applied December 2019 and started January 19 2020. When I started, many students liked my class and many were requesting my schedule. I know that the ADMiN saw it but they just don’t care. They are the worst! And it happened, It wasn’t actually my fault because my internet connection was down then the HR told me that they have decided to downgrade me. Note: No warning, No notice but they just messaged me without even considering. I asked them to consider while I am still new in the conpany but the HR did not reply. I was very disappointed. They just showed how bullshiit they are. My students were asking why I resigned and I told them the truth. I will not sugar coat. There are atleast 5 students said that there are a lot of bad teachers in the company so they are sorry to hear that the company let go of good teachers. Advice: TSK is Talk 915. It is not a company but I think it is a group. TSK admin is where I saw how unprofessional their HR is. You know Filipinos! They have this crab mentality. “Isip talangka”

      Hi there!

Did they pay you? I have been working for them since early March 2020 and so far no payment. Their adm offices are terrible. I have been in touch so that they pay for the lessons I have been teaching for the last two months but so far no success.

  • Becky

Talk 915 left me an email requesting that I should acquire a TRA certificate before I could interview with the company. Has anyone else experienced this?

  • Baney

Does anyone know how much a student pays the company for a lesson? I’ve heard both 55 and 65 rmb per 25 minute lesson.

  • Didi

I’m trying to apply but it’s insisting on a reference code. How do I get that or is there a way to bypass this?

  • Mr Black

I’ve been working for Talk915 since 2016 and they may not pay the most (£3.60 for a 25 minute class) but the admin is excellent. They tend to believe the teachers more than the students which is a bonus. Apart from the low pay, they are reliable and do hire non native speakers. I’m not sure if they pay non native speakers less but a student told me the classes are cheaper to book.

All of the materials are provided and they now have their own software (eClass & eClass 3.0 in Chrome). If it’s your first online job, they are trustworthy.

I’m here to look for a better paying job though 🙂

What’s your nationality Mr. Black? I’m also an English online teacher and I’m currently looking for other Online English schools.

    • Greg Rodda

      Hi Mr. Black?

I’m a new English online teacher and I’m currently looking for Online English schools, preferably European or South American as I feel the hours may be “friendlier”, especially European countries😊🤞

      Thanks

I just started to work for Talk915. I’m a chinese who live in US for grad schools. They pay nonnative speakers less. My pay is 25RMB/25mins. Although they pay less, they give you lesson plans and texts book. I agree that the admin team is the best. According to my knowledge, they are the first online teaching platform that now actually earn money. other companies in China like VIPKIDS, YIYI they still use money from ventures. They put more money on teaching materials, teachers, admin work. I actually love this company. I hope I could do research on them one day. I’m doing this job because I want to help Chinese students learn English, not because of money.

    • Ian Wilde

Hi. I It used to work for them as well and I agree, whilst the money is not that brilliant, that used to supply me with lots of customers and the admin was fantastic. I am trying to re-register and get myself doing some tutoring again but I cannot for the life of me find out how is the best way to get in touch with them can you advise, please.
