SinceWin

SinceWin Review

SinceWin (website is down and the company appears to be out of business) is another Chinese company that specializes in teaching children aged 3-13 (most students are aged 3-6). They say they want native speakers but at the same time they have many teachers in an office in Quezon city in the Philippines. It could be an option for teachers in the Philippines. They also say they want teachers to have at least one year of online teaching experience and an ESL certificate is preferred. We don’t know much else about this company and we would love to hear from someone who knows more about it.

Please leave us your comments and reviews of SinceWin Educational Technology company.

So happy I didn’t go forward with this company. During the group orientation there was something off about the robotic style of teaching, following the curriculum with no room for your own personality and having to buy extra equipment just to meet their technical requirements. I knew after that orientation I was done with the company. I didn’t even bother with the demo, especially after reading the horrid reviews about this company.

My experience with Sincewin was quite ridiculous. If you have been teaching online for any length of time you will come to find most companies embellish about how many classes that they have or even the pay scale. It is hard in this industry to find straight shooters. With that said, you can imagine that the mere fact that I am leaving a comment on this company with all that we know about this industry, the experience had to be rather ridiculous.

After applying at Sincewin, doing a training class, completing a demo, I was offered a position including signing contracts. 3 days later after purchasing a brand new HD webcam and high-end color printer, making my own materials including a Lucky doll I was informed that the sales team was having a difficult time recruiting classes and that I was being placed on hold until further notice by this email narecruitment@xinxuewen.cn . 1 day after that I was contacted by vivian.du@xinxuewen.cn informing me that my demo video was poor video quality with freezing and that I do not qualify as a teacher due to their highly competitive nature. The demo was shot on a cannon HD professional camera that I borrowed until my new one arrived there was no freezing, fuzz or anything that would have counted the quality of the video as “bad”. I placed both on 1 email to attempt to get to the bottom of things, after all just 3 days prior I was hired signed my contract and quite frankly expected to be booked the following week at the minimum.

No one replied, so I did my own investigating, aside from collecting people to have a backup slew of teachers, most schools in China do not like this style of teaching. Rather they seek teachers that allow the children to be more interactive with their peers and creative teachers with good TPR skills not performed in a robotic sing-along. Like I stated above, most of these schools embellish quite a bit when attempting to secure teachers for the coming season, just choose wisely.

This company does not have many bookings at the moment and they overhired but didn’t bother to tell the new employees that they didn’t actually have any work for them. I bought over NZ$200 in new equipment only to have them ghost me after they told me they would be in touch with scheduled classes. It seemed like such a good company to start with and is such a shame that they have treated everyone they have recently hired like this, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend anyone bother applying and wasting their time and money.

This company is rubbish. Completely irresponsible, unprofessional and rude. I had an interview and then moved to demo and on-boarding, filmed the 25min demo, submitted intro video, photos, signed a contract, bought new equipment (which they insisted on), created a new background and a ton of props for teaching as per their instructions and attended the 1hr live training. After all that, I was told that they will contact me in the next 3 days, which they did not. The entire HR staff is gone (completely) from Skype, their last activities were more than a week ago, no one is responding to emails, it is a mess. Watch out for this company, this is such a shady business, that I am mad at myself that I actually thought (after checking online, and seeing that they have “legit” teachers and classes) that investing my time in this application process would result in a professional communication and respect. Avoid Sincewin like the plague. I sure hope that schools will stop buying classes from them, as this is just inexcusable behaviour.

Just as Winston and Anja stated, this company is a disaster, bizarre and in need of serious help. I waited and waited for classes. They never came. I am an experienced teacher, 10 years and with a Masters degree. they have changed the teaching plans many times and each change requires more printing and wearing of ridiculous hats. The props they expect are going to cost you and for a measly 4 classes a month…..I am in the red with SinceWin. SinceWhen did they think the curriculum they created was educational or even workable. Before they opened they should have taken a note or two from the Big Boys in this field. Thank God I still work for one of them!

Bottom line-Don’t waste your time with this idiotic company

I went through the horrible interview process as described by the other teachers. I was promised an hourly rate of 24-30USD by the recruiter. When I finished my lengthy and time-consuming demo, I “passed” and received an offer via email for a measly 18USD per hour…. Basically, they lied, and then tried their best to make weak excuses and justification for their lies.

****PLEASE NOTE***** This is NOT guaranteed or fixed pay either. They will leave you sitting in front of your computer with no work and then not have any obligation to pay you. Any work they give you will require at LEAST half an hours prep time. And lessons are only 25 minutes. So you will only be receiving 9USD, half pay. That’s 9USD for an hours work. Is it work it? Well, I’ll let you decide.

You will likely get fed up by the lack of work, lack of decent pay, high requirements, lying and quite frankly rude staff, fraudulent practices and end up going elsewhere. Avoid this company at all costs….

Thanks for the heads up guys…So I very recently completed my second mock class with a bunch of pointers which I feel were just nitpicking. Like many other companies, they have such a long process to get started and they are unprofessional it seems from the set up. I recently booked the mock class although they forgot to turn up, didn’t book a class for me to do this (in ClassIn).
After my second mock (about 1 week ago), I’ve had no response as they advised they would get back to me so will see what happens there.

They are seen in a lot of places as they advertise, “earn up to $50 an hour” but I guess if they only give about 4 classes a month as Winston mentioned then that’s not much.

Based on the comments above, I don’t think I would want to continue with them (even if they bother to get back to me).

SinceWin gave me 4 classes a month. I asked for more but they refused. The SinceWin teacher contract is the most unfair and oppressive document that I have ever seen.

Their demo-trial classes are poorly made and new student sign-ups appear to be low. Their company is very new, disorganized and chaotic. They appear to be stockpiling and warehousing teachers in anticipation of some future demand.

As Anja wrote, SinceWin requires that the teacher do everything exactly the way that they want it done. They will compel you to wear a funny hat and sing their songs exactly the way that they want those songs sung. The excruciating degree of control that SinceWin exercises over their teachers is so far beyond the pale that it’s bizarre and unheard of in the education business,.

So i have done an interview with them which was easy and ok, but then i got quite disappointed. They send you bunch of material for you to go over, without any training. And I have been teaching for over 10 years, but this company gives you NO SPACE to put in your own personality. everything must be EXACTLY as they tell you, even though then the recruiters apparently dont have coherent rulse. Myfirst mock class was a disaster, my fault, and THEN they told me SOME things that is important to them but even though my second mock was a million times better, they still did not like it. and the second tips were different than from the first recruiter. … and their material should be done more professional since they expect 100% excellence from us too.
