ISpeakBetter Review

ISpeakBetter <—- (Click here to Apply) appears to be based in the Philipines (possibly Turkey), although their students are from all over the world, primarily from Turkey, the Middle East, Balkans and Asia. Students range in age from elementary children to middle aged professionals. It doesn’t look like you need a university degree according to their recruitment page, but teachers should have a TEFL / TESOL / CELTA certificate and ESL teaching experience. They offer 1 to 1 classes and pay $8 – $10 USD per hour with Paypal to native teachers. They pay Filipino teachers with bank transfers.

hhhahahaha yet another good laugh. They claim to be based in US but operate from the Philippines. In that case, you’re NEVER going to get their whopping $8/hr much less $10. Also, another in the list of geniuses who think teacher info is a proprietary secret BUT that YOU should give them your life story so THEY can decide. My advice to everyone, DO NOT SEND ANYTHING. Eventually, losers like this will come around THEY HAVE NO CHOICE. Anyway, good luck wasting your time if you go for this one. One positive note—they did respond quickly to my initial email. Such a shame!

        Hey Sabrina,

In short, they offered NOTHING. Filipinos are in heavy competition with foreigners (i.e. non-filipino) for these jobs. Usually, as in my case, you are rejected (and of course never given a reason why) probably based on the fact that you ARE a foreigner (white boy or girl). I know this from first-hand experience. If you look through these comments here on Goodair, and the schools operating/based in the PH, you’ll see that a “good” wage is about $3/hr. (roughly 150 pisos). Consider also that Japanese have brick-and-mortar schools set up there to send students at a much lower price–specifically to avoid the high cost of “real” native speakers.
