I just now clicked on the link to their site. My browser (Firefox) would not recommend I proceed to the site as I could get sensitive data like passwords stolen. I backed off quick!

It is so sad that Chinese people are racist because it is obvious if they would ask for blue people these ESL companies would give them BLUE teachers with a cherry on top. I just cannot fathom that Chinese people could even be remotely racist, its like a black boss not hiring a black interviewee for being black. It’s is just ridiculous and the worst part is that these companies get away with it. It’s time to start a site based on racism within the ESL industry and start doing polls and getting some solid info and doing some investigating as to how many black esl teachers are barely or not hired by all the esl companies. OH YEAH! It sounds like a plan! This nonsense will stop and it will cost these companies dearly once THEY are put on MY BLACKLIST within my democratic site based in the good ol USA and start cracking down on the Chinese ESL industry. I am sure there are A FEW needles in the haystack that do hire other nationalities. Any ideas on a name for my new site?

There was a time all I dreamt was to leave my home country Nigeria to teach English in Japan. I so much loved Japan that I did everything I could trying to secure an ALT position there. I applied to different companies and got some interviews, but despite my degrees and extensive teaching experience, I was never considered. I kept trying because I was young and hopeful- in my twenties at that time.
The last interview I had; I was so sure that I was going to get the job, and that was because the interviewer who was a Canadian was very much impressed with my responses and profile that he confessed he was hoping to meet me soon in Japan. He went ahead to discuss salary and starting date with me, and it was all good. But 5 days after the interview, I got a mail from the company informing me that they couldn’t continue with my application.
    The experience was very bad.
I had since settled in my country and now works as a Human Resources officer in the Maritime sector.
    I still love Japan though.
I guess a lot of people don’t look beyond our colour no matter how smart we are. It’s a reality I am living with.

I applied a few days ago. They offer 3 USD for Filipino teachers for a small group class and they prefer teachers with a bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate! Not worth it!

Racism is alive in well in the online English teaching industry. These type of companies should be banned from the online industry or fine and sue by a person who has experienced this BS behavior from them. By the way, I am a white man who was raised by an incredible black stepfather which happened to be the greatest man I have ever known in my life.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Really sad to hear about how they treated you. I happen to be white/male but have no intention of working for people like this.

I am black. Same thing happened to me. The person who contacted me literally harassed me to no end for more information. I sent them the information and did an introduction video. The person was so excited to meet with me via Skype. After I sent the video, the person never showed up to the Skype interview. Then, they sent an email talking nonsense about their internet being down. As a black woman I know BS when I come across it in the ESL industry. On paper I looked white until she saw that I was a black woman. It’s infuriating to have all the qualifications in the world and yet these people are so hung up on skin color to deny me a chance for a position with the company.

I think it is horrible too. But if you know that Chinese are racist and do not hire, why not find a career where you can actually work?

They do that to everyone. I was rejected a couple of times because I am not good looking enough . I don`t have much hair and I guess my face is not that attractive… I`m white and I got rejected 20 times. So the world is not against black people, they are against any one they don`t find attractive enough . ESL companies are mostly fascist I know that because I`m in this business for 5 years now .. They discriminate in every possible way but I have learned to ignore that and move on. So good luck to you all !
