COREnglish Review

COREnglish <—- (Click here to Apply) (COREnglish homepage here) is based in Salt Lake City, USA but they teach Chinese students. A big advantage with this company is that they give teachers fixed classes with the same students. Classes are from 1 – 5 students and each lesson is 25 minutes long. Teachers must have a bachelor’s degree and they must be available at 6am to 8am EST working at least 2 hours per day at 4 days per week (You can teach at other times too.) A TESL certificate is preferred and so is teaching experience but they are not necessary to start working here. Non-natives are welcome to apply. They pay from $10 – $20 USD per hour by wire transfer or Paypal.   Please leave a comment or a review of COREnglish.

AVOID THIS COMPANY! They want slaves.

    CONS:
    1. They pay an average salary of 3 USD per class.
    2. They demand perfect classes, and for them, students are always right even if parents/students humiliate and mistreat you.
    3. They have ridiculous and unjustifiable penalties (81 USD for one absence), and reasons like medical prescriptions, natural disasters, hospitalizations, etc., are not considered justifications by them. *Their contract states that you have to submit leave request 6 days before you want to cancel any lesson, otherwise you’ll get penalized. How am I supposed to know when I am going to get sick?
    4. One of their companies never paid me, and CORENGLISH did nothing to help me get paid.
    5. Their Teacher Managers don’t know anything, lack information, and don’t resolve issues.
    6. The positive comments posted are because CORENGLISH pays teachers 5 dollars to write them. They are not genuine experiences.
    7. They change the contract every time they want. They just inform you, and they don’t care if you agree on it or not.

    PROS:
    NOTHING

A really really bad experience. AVOID! First of all, they’re a recruitment agency which means they are partnered up with multiple trash companies that no sane person will bother looking into. I was told that I would be paid 6 USD per hour, which I know, I know it’s pretty bad, but didn’t have a lot of choices since I’m not a native speaker.
I essentially believed that I would be working for them, and since I did some research on them online and looked through their ‘stellar’ reviews on Glassdoor and Trustpilot that most of them promised high booking rates, I decided to give them a shot.
Little did I know that they would sign me up for another company, that I didn’t know existed prior to this whole fiasco. but naively I thought, it will work out.
After a two-week turbid and very confusing at times training followed by a bunch of rules that didn’t make sense and an even more confusing platform, I was ready to start with my classes. I did a couple of them when just yesterday I decided to look into this company, and funnily enough, one of the reviewers said they pay way less for trial classes, and so far, I’ve only had such. I asked the recruiter from this “company” about it, and he immediately confirmed that I was only paid 2 USD for trial classes, which I wasn’t informed of whatsoever, but he tried convincing me that I should stick with it because sooner than later I would be getting normal classes that I would be paid for more. To this, I vehemently refused.
I’m fuming as I’m writing this, avoid this company at all costs, they’re just a bunch of scammers that are here to get your money, nothing else.

I applied and was asked to do a demo after sending them a video talking about my teaching experience so far… They offered 5 USD per hour, had to decline lol

Alright, look… the pay rate is terrible, they offered 4.4 USD/HR, I will suggest whoever considering applying choose somewhere else!
