    Hi,
I just read all of the remarks and I agree. I managed to stay here for more than two years because I worked for another company as well. First, I didn’t have any students for more than 6 months. When I finally got them, My tm (that was supposed to help me) kept giving me penalties and hide me from students so that I couldn’t have classes. They take your money without you doing anything wrong. They make you constantly do some tests and pass them in order to stay. They are all like mean soulless, slavery-oriented robots. Pure tiffs!!! Their application doesn’t work and you will constantly be unable to log in and come late or miss the class. If you try to ask for help, they do not care. As if no human is working there. BAD PEOPLE, BAD COMPANY, TIFFS, AND CRIMINALS!!!

I would like to say that this company is one of the worst.
My wife is having a very difficult time working with you, because you are unprofessional and don’t respect your employees.
She has been working at your company more than 6 months and still didn’t receive any money (her salary).
she has been sending messages to the TM but no reply, and can’t talk to anyone else.
if this is the way you work, shame on you.
I wouldn’t recommend anybody to work with you or even learn here.

This is really the worst esl company I have ever worked with. As a native speaker from south africa the pay was far to low for me. In the first week i had little students but gradually i started getting fully booked and had regulars for every hour. However I was promised 8 dollars an hour and they gave me 2 dollars an hour, I asked them to change it for me and they said I need to wait for 3 months. On top that, in my second month working for them now they did not pay me on time and still have not, I truly hope for their sake that they do pay me this month. There is no point in working a 8 to 5 everyday with little to show for it. I have now decided to leave the company. If you are still deciding to work with them leave now its not worth it, your making more money for them than you are for yourself and they are exploiting you. Trust me leave now!

    Hi,
I cannot say how good they are because they scheduled the interview and never appeared! I waited and sent some messages to see if something went wrong, hopping they will reschedule the interview…..Not a word. It’s been over a month and no message from them. I can only say if they expect us to be serious, so do we.

This is a really unethical company! I’ve worked with Acadsoc for over one year. Salary has dramatically decreased.

Management and technical support are really unapproachable, unfriendly and unsupportive. They only seem to be on the ball when you are being penalised.

I have worked with many companies on Dave’s list and Acadsoc is by far the most corrupt and exploitative! Even worst than iTutor group.

    To concur with previous comments:

CONTRARY TO THEIR ADS, you don’t get paid for unbooked classes after working for more than a couple of months. They promise a consistent salary, but over time it’s drastically reduced and consistent salary becomes nothing but a fart in the wind.

They do seem to “FORGE” complaints and penalties against you, so your ratings decrease (no bonuses – which are really hard to attain with how their system is designed in the first place). Not to mention, their fines are 200% more than your hourly rate – which are so easy for you to get.

I have heard from other tutors who have worked with Acadsoc and they feel downright insulted by the small amount of hours and salary cuts. If you are allowed to plot as many hours as you like, you’re not paid for unbooked classes and their “FINES” remain extremely high, notwithstanding your salary getting lowered over time.

This really makes me question if this is the trend with all companies ruled by TOTALITARIAN governments.

I would steer clear of this company and many other Chinese slave-driving systems, unless you’re starting out and don’t mind being taken for a ride. I would also advise not to take any teaching jobs in China, due to the large amount of teachers being victims of corrupt schools. I have also read about many teachers being imprisoned in China.

I am not an advocate of Mr. Donnie J. Trump, but due to the unethical and immoral treatment many native speakers have been subjected to, I would not be against military action against this undemocratic and unfair country.

But hey, apply to this company or any other Chinese and see for yourself. It may be good in the beginning, but trust me things will go tits up for you after working there for a few months.

It seems to me the European and American ESL companies are the way to go. I really don’t see any future for these or with these companies like Acadsoc. They only use and abuse you until they refuse you!

I’ve been working for them for about a year and despite their unprofessional management, felt okay because I was making decent money. Then suddenly I started making less than half my usual salary. I’ve tried to get an explanation, but everyone ignores me 😂

Here is my honest review for anyone who wishes to work in this company:

    Cons:
    1. The company was made for Philippine people not for native speakers. Although native speakers have a far higher salary than Philippine tutors, the salary is still barely above the minimum wage in the U.S. However, in other countries such as mine, it can be a blessing.
    2. Contrary to what they say in their website, if you are a native speaker you will NOT get money from unbooked classes. It makes sense in a way since you gain more than Philippine tutors and thus by company policy, they take that out.

    Pros:
    1. One good thing about being a native speaker in their company is that the pay ALWAYS comes on time, while I’ve heard numerous complaints of Philippine tutors that their pay be as late as 3 weeks (really sad, some of my fellow Philippine friends have left the company because of it).
    2. The first month will probably be the worst because there are barely any bookings (which makes sense because noone knows you), but do keep in mind that you are being promoted and if you have 5 stars, your booking rate will surely soar. You will have to go through a lot of training. I’m in my second month and I’ve done EFK, EP and T3 training. T3 training is given by your TM if they think you have potential to be a top tutor. Once you do all that training, you can get a lot of bookings since the parents or the adult students will see you are qualified.
    3. You will get paid fully for each class that is cancelled which is nice.

    Tips:
    1. Do not start with 8 hours a day. Like I said, bookings will not magically appear, it takes time!
    2. Do not book classes on days you are unsure of. Better to work less than to lose more.
    3. Your TM can be your best friend. Ask for them for advice. If they like you enough, they will heavily promote you.
    4. Because the native speaker package is more expensive than the local Philippine package, you will not have as many booked classes as the latter. It will take longer to build up a reputation but have patience. A native speaker CAN get fully booked.

I applied to the company and was promised 8usd per hour from my recruiter, then I passed the demo and got the job.About to start the job, I was told I get 4usd per hour. Very disappointing.

    • Maria

      Hi Daniel,

I enjoyed your comment a lot and I find it fair so far. I’m in my first month, so I would very much like to connect to other teachers like you. Any idea how can I do that?

      Warm regards,

  • Say Zhang

The students in this company are very kind, polite, and focused to learn English. Oppositely, what they call TMs or training managers are unapproachable. They would waste your time waiting for their senseless replies up to even a week. But..when it comes to any markdowns that would help the company save money, you would definitely get a lot of attention from them.

Over a month of my time was wasted with this company’s interview and hiring process They have about 10 different staff members contact you by just saying hello. You are expected to just know who the new staf member is. They Had me sign a contract and then after 2 unpaid demos, they said that they will not lhire me. But they accepted my signed contract at the first interview. The company is just another unorganized asian ESL company wasting people’s valuable time.

    • janine Talotti

i was shocked that Acadsoc made me sign a contract and afterwards said i must do training and a demo- those things there are already red flags for me and i dont even want to go further with them.

  • cintia justicar

They avoid paying any bonuses by:
-“forging complaints” : that lowers your rating, and prevents from getting promoting, plus a penalty

-“forgetting”: they announce bonuses hunt, and they simply do not pay them

-“cancellation”: THE STUDENT CANCELS CLASSES AND IT BECOMES YOUR FAULT, losing the chance for a bonus

in a nutshell, DO NOT believe or count with the bonus. And expect some salary penalties regularly along with regular bitchings.

  • J.Walker

I would avoid this school if I were you. I answered their ad on Hioffer and they contacted me to let me know I was shortlisted for an interview and would be contacted by their recruiter (they sound professional so far). Several days later, someone adds me on Skype without any introduction or explanation, and I see their company’s logo as they avatar, so I accept them. And, well, you can see the screenshot of what the ‘recruiter’ here wrote: https://snag.gy/RLn8Ql.jpg
So naturally I blocked the shady illiterate individual and now I feel genuinely concerned about the profiles of these ’employers’ on Hioffer and similar sites.

    • Angie

Also worked there(6months), would not recommend it. They have some trainings, but they don’t secure the bookings. Your team supervisor should increase the bookings for you, but it didn’t happen to me, even when they changed my TS.
They offer a salary of 8-12$, no bonuses.
      Not very professional tech support.

  • Miss Chicka

I had worked for Acadsoc. Not worth it. They say they want native speakers but prefer to hire phillipinos. Something happened in a session with a student that had caused the company to be that way.

You won’t get enough hours. If your program administrator does not schedule you, you won’t get any classes. If you’re not scheduled for a week, Acadsoc lessens the amount of hours a tutor can plan.

Worked there a week, found all that out, left.
