Yeko

Yeko Review

Yeko (Chinese link(be careful with this company, there are plenty of bad reviews here). A Chinese company who are looking for non-native (with a neutral accent) and native English speaking teachers. A bachelors degree is not necessary and neither is a TEFL certificate or teaching experience but they are preferred. Yeko supplies all the teaching material. Scheduling is flexible and teachers are paid for no-shows. They teach adults in one to one classes and children in group classes for 20 – 25 minutes. They pay between $10 – $15 USD per hour (I think they pay $12 per hour for one-to-one classes but I have not confirmed this). They pay with Paypal. They want teachers to commit to 20 hours per week and teaching hours are every day from 9:00am – 8:00pm Beijing time.

I know from personal experience the frustration of being ripped-off point blank by lying, scamming online “schools.” While I applaud the efforts of those of you reporting these scams on websites such is this, I STRONGLY ASK AND SUGGEST that you contact the FTC and report these thieves. I am only ONE person and have already done such. However, as you know, one voice is seldom (and mostly NEVER) heard! If we work together, we can, eventually, end the proliferation of these scams, liars, and thieves! Here are two direct statements from the FTC website:
Can the U.S. Federal Trade Commission fine foreign websites and apps for not following state-side online marketing regulations? It sure can. Here’s the Internet marketing legal line: All commercial products and services available to U.S. citizens are subject to FTC regulations.
The FTC engages with competition and consumer protection agencies in other countries, directly and through international networks, to halt deceptive and anticompetitive business practices that affect U.S. consumers.

Please remove this employer. They are scammers, they fired 30 teachers and didn’t pay them. Sent a mail stating they declare bankruptcy but everyone knows for a fact that they continued working.

DO NOT APPLY HERE!!!! They make you do the work and don’t pay you! They issued us an e-mail that said they declared bankruptcy and owe us about $3000

Dear Good Air Language, please remove Yeko from your list. Today, they have played so many teachers, firing them, sending them dismissal emails announcing them about bankruptcy even though they plan to continue to work. They haven’t payed their teachers. They owe around $900 which is quite huge amount for some teachers. This is a disaster that happened today and we are pretty shocked because we could not believe that they could do such a thing. They blocked teachers on social apps and don’t reply on our emails.
I am writing this to warn other teachers that it might also happen to them.

There are so many ESL teachers who are embittered, disappointed and enraged by their fraudulent and unprincipled behavior.
I hope other teachers don’t fall for them. Many of us rely on that money.

    Warm regards.

unfortunately their application portal isn’t working. i’ve tried applying countless times but it isn’t working. it seems a little sketchy as well but there isn’t enough information about this company for me to make a statement. I guess its on to more Job Hunting.
