UUABC

UUABC Review

UUABC <—- (Click here to Apply) is another company from China. They teach Chinese children between the ages of 5-16. They are looking for native speakers (but apparently not South Africans for some reason) to teach up to 4 students at a time. Minimum requirement is 6 hours per week during peak Beijing time (weekdays 7am-9pm and weekends 5pm-9pm). Classes are 30 minutes long. They pay between $15 and $26 USD (by bank transfer only) per hour depending on experience and on how you do in the trial lesson, they also offer some bonuses for being on time and for attendance. The website is in Chinese but you can email: teacher.fm@uuabc.com.

Please leave us your comments and reviews of UUABC.

Dora, the manager, left the company. Teachers teach up to 4 students. They want 6 hours a week (Chinese peak hours), 30-minute classes. I get 19 dollars an hour. They used to pay by paypal and they always paid on time once a month. This month they asked bank details and another company (they call it ‘third party’ and asked us to sign a contract with them too) will pay us. I have no idea how this will work.

    Hello Tim,

I am interested in applying with UUABC, but just tried to email support@uuabc.com and received a mail delivery error message. Would you be able to assist me, please?

I currently hold a TESOL Certificate.

    Thank you!

    Hello.
I have an interview with UUABC in 2 weeks. I just scheduled it last night and there was nothing earlier. While they gave me plenty of time to learn about them and their company, I am curious to know what is the size of the class? Also, is there a MAXIMUM hours that you need to make available? (I thought that I read something that said maximum of 32 hours.) Would you be asked to be available for BOTH weekend days?

    Thank you

Late reply, but I believe they hire native speakers and it doesn’t matter where you live. TEFL is not need but preferred.

    Hi there
I had an interview with one of your recruiters who said that my interview was really good and my mock lesson exceptional. I have not had a response and wondered if that meant my application was unsuccessful.
    Kind Regards
    Kerry Hendry

I am a South African working full time for UUABC. I absolutely love the company! (Being a non-Native English speaker is a disadvantage, but not an obstacle that is impossible to overcome with hard work, dedication, and proper English). They are always available, friendly and quick to respond. They treat their employees and students with respect and have strict rules for keeping everything professional, organised and efficient. The software is fun to use and provide great opportunities for interaction with your students. They also have a development team constantly working on new lesson material and interface functions. If you are serious about teaching English online to great students, with a support team that makes you feel valued, I definitely recommend UUABC!

Hi Anja I am a fellow South African and a former high school teacher. Can you give me an idea of the ages of the children you work with and the level of English you are expected to teach? Eg Nouns, verbs etc, the rules of English or what?
I would appreciate some information. Thanks
      Michelle

    • Andreja

      Hello Anja!
My name is Andreja and although I am not a native English speaker, my skills are native – like, because I have both B.A. and M.A. degrees in English language, literature and culture and I’ve been tutoring since 2007, both offline and online. My question for you is quite simple, should I even bother to send an application? I would really appreciate if you could find the time to reply, anytime. Thank you!

    • SABRINA PINION

      Hi!

I am extremely interested in expanding my passion for teaching online. I hold a BS,(University of South Carolina) MEd (Clemson University) 20 hours toward Educational Psychology. I have over 12+professional teaching certificates and taught Emotionally/Behaviorally disordered children in a self-contained classroom. Next, I taught collegiate level Psychology and Human Growth and Development at local college and Charter High School for 3 years. I then became a private teacher for a young man during homeschooling and he advanced 2-grade levels in one year. I am a Native US citizen born in South Carolina and would more than appreciate any feedback and discussion in regards to beginning this exciting opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you.

      • John

        Hi Mizel on,

        I’m interested in applying.
Are you saying on with a BA or higher,
even if I have a TEFL, and have been teaching ESL for 15years?

        • Kevin

Welcome to recruiting in China. They feel that if you went to school for four years and got a degree (of any kind) then you are better for marketing than an experienced teacher…someone who actually knows how to teach.
UUABC is following the lead of every school in China – not sure why they think a 22 year old with a degree in music could be a better teacher than you!

          • Thelostteacher

I am caught in this Catch 22 also. I have a Associates degree, Brick and mortar experience, online teaching experience, and a TESOL certification but I guess that I can’t click next on a slide or teach a student because I didn’t go to school for four years. It’s really ridiculous as I type it.
