I applied last year for a post advertised. I must say, that I have not experienced any issues at all. I’m a qualified teacher with many years of experience and also working for other agencies. Their approach is straightforward. Yes, I was asked to apply for a DBS in the event I didn’t have one but that is a process with all agencies. They seem to be very rigid with their recruitment process but to be honest that is a positive. There are too many individuals advertising tutoring and the profession needs to be vetted. No complaints from me I’m afraid.

You have to have DBS prior to the application. I am not taking a DBS check at cost to myself for the privilage of application. Taking and paying for one post interview would be acceptable but I am not spending on one without some indication that I have been considered!

Tuto supply’s comment is typically a face saving British response to mitigate an unprofessional attitude.

Hi I would be keen, although the above comment is not reassuring I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

I am a native speaker from the UK with 2 years teaching experience.

Back in June 2018 I completed this company’s online profile including getting an up to date criminal check in my country of residence. I completed everything and explained that I had 22 years teaching experience, ten years in London and twelve years in Argentina. That for the last 7.5 years, I had been teaching online. I am fully qualified with a TEFL certificate, a BA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL and a PGCE, all obtained in the UK. I was told that once I had completed my profile, I would have an interview. I tried to arrange an interview both by e-mail and Skype, but nobody responded. Being a British based company, I was surprised at their lack of professionalism. Yesterday, I decided to ask them to delete my profile and all my documents attached. I thought they would just write to me and tell me that my profile had been deleted, but no I got an e-mail this morning (19/09/18) stating that I had been “rejected”. Thank you for being so professional Tutor Supply.

      Michelle,

Thank you for your comments. Although we rigidly go through every profile, you must understand that not all candidates are successful in their application. With regards to the deletion of your data, we respect all GDPR decisions and deleted all data accordingly. Unfortunately, the platform allowed for your profile to be rejected first before it got deleted. I hope that helps.

I’m very well-qualified too. You’re not making me want to work for you with how you handled this. Quite the opposite. Treat people better. Do better. Your company is now being rejected by many qualified potential professionals.

Wow Michelle – they rejected you with all that experience and knowledge?! Who on Earth do they accept then? Sound appalling – thanks for the heads up. Won’t bother with them now.
