Hujiang

Hujiang Review

Hujiang is one of the largest ESL companies in China. They are looking for experienced native speaking teachers who are able to teach at specific times in Beijing to a wide variety of students (not just children). They want teachers with experience teaching young learners and a TESL certificate or a university degree. The starting pay is $16-$20USD per hour and there are bonuses. The website is in Chinese but you can send your CV to teach@hujiang.com.

Please leave us your comments and information about Hujiang.

  • Hujiang used to be one of the best. During 2019 I believe they took a risky business deal and though nothing was said to teachers I know many teachers (including myself at the end of 2019) who found themselves placed on restrictions (not able to open schedules for more than 10 hours a week for months on end and with little or no bookings) for no good reason.

The quality of care for teachers is poor, the curriculum mediocre and boring at best. No longer a company to rely on, unfortunately.

    • Hujiang went downhill fast. Class bookings used to be highly abundant for both adults and kids- all you had to do was open availability and you'd get instantly booked. Now you'd be lucky to teach two classes a day. Students are mostly nice but there a few bad apples who would give you a bad rating for absolutely no reason. I honestly don't think they'd stay open for long especially with the recent industry change -cutting all after school tutoring lessons and banning ESL companies from hiring teachers abroad.

    • So that is what happened to Hujiang. It's sad. Right up until 8 months ago, I saw nothing but glowing reviews for it, and then it was like the company dropped off the face of the Earth. It's a pity: adult gigs are hard to find, and it is cutthroat trying to land a job that does not force you to talk to sock puppets.

  • I’ve been working for Hujiang in various forms since August (teaching over 1400 lessons and counting!). They’re the best (by far) of many online companies I’ve worked for, and are currently looking for qualified and passionate K12 teachers from UK, USA, CAN, AUS, and NZ to join the team. The starting salary is $16 – $20 for the K12 Kids program, with bonuses and salary increases available if teachers perform exceptionally well. The video classes are 25 minutes long and lesson materials are provided to use on their great teaching platform (CCTalk). I’ve had a fantastic experience with them so far, with high booking rates, enjoyable lessons, and excellent help from the support team when needed. To apply, candidates need to meet ALL of the following requirements: * Native speaker of English from UK, USA, CAN, AUS, and NZ (please specify nationality in resume) * Must have teaching experience (preferably with young learners) * Must have a teaching certificate related to ESL/Education (eg TEFL/CELTA) or a BA (please specify certificate type in resume) * Have a computer with Windows system & Internet speed over 10mbps both upload and download
    * Can teach at least 10 hours per week during M-F 6pm-10pm, Sat-Sun 9am-10pm Beijing time (GMT+8) (Once you’re established, the sky’s the limit as to how many hours a week you teach). If you want me to help get you an interview with this awesome company & meet ALL of the above requirements, get in touch. onlineenglishteachergraham@gmail.com Thanks!

    • Hi Graham,

I see no comments after Nov'2018? Is this company still going? Is everyone happy hence no commentary?

I wish to get into online teaching and am looking for a reputable online teaching company to join.

      Thanks

      Greg

    • Exactly Allomar!!! How arrogant of the poster to exclude South Africa as a native English speaking country.

      • They don't accept South Africans for the K12 program actually, but they do for adults classes. Also, there are 11 official languages in SA, English is the fourth most common first language in the country. Have a nice day : )

        • Only because of demographics - we are still a Commonwealth Country and native English Speakers with a far nicer accent than Australia and New Zealand :)

    • They also accept South Africans. You do know South Africans are Native English speakers, right? There are 6 Native English speaking countries in the world, you named all of them except for South Africa.....

      • The UK government classifies the following countries as majority native English speaking:

Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize , Canada, Dominica ,Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States of America

        • We are talking about MAJORITY native English speaking countries according to the UK government. We are talking about accepted Native English speaking countries in the ESL industry.

Good luck trying to get an ESL job with a Jamaican accent...'mon.
