How Twenix Became My Go-To Side Gig
When remote work became a thing, I started looking for a way to earn a bit extra without giving up my freedom. I didn’t want a 9-to-5 or anything that tied me to a strict schedule. That’s when I stumbled across online English teaching. It sounded simple enough: a laptop, a decent internet connection, a camera, and I was curious to see if it could actually work for me.
After trying a couple of platforms, I found Twenix, a Spain-based company, and I’ve stuck with it ever since.
Why I Like It
I’m juggling my postgraduate studies, so I need work that fits around my schedule, not the other way around. With Twenix, I just open up time slots when I’m free, and students book them. There’s no pressure to commit to a certain number of hours, which means if I’ve got exams coming up, I can take a break. When life calms down, I open more slots. I can even jump into last-minute classes if I suddenly have a free window or hand off a class to another teacher if plans change.
No Prep Needed
One of the biggest surprises for me was how little prep there is. On other platforms, I’d spend ages planning lessons, but with Twenix everything is ready for you. The classes are just 26 minutes, the materials are built in, and you can review them quickly before you start. It’s really low-stress. There’s no chasing students or marketing yourself. You teach, leave a bit of feedback, and get on with your day.
The Best Part: The Students
Honestly, this is what keeps me coming back. All of the students are adults who work in professional roles across Spain and Italy. The classes are one-to-one, which means no rowdy kids or big groups. Since students choose what topics they want to work on, the conversations are often tied to their jobs or passions. I’ve had chats with people in renewable energy, finance, and even film. It feels more like exchanging ideas than teaching in the traditional sense.
A Few Things to Know
Of course, it’s not perfect. August is slow because everyone’s on holiday, and oddly enough, January can be too. Twenix also expects high standards, with teachers maintaining an average rating of 4.7 out of 5. It’s fair, but you do have to stay sharp. The good thing is they don’t just leave you hanging. There’s plenty of support, from training videos to webinars that actually help.
If you’re looking for a way to earn without giving up your freedom, whether that’s while you study, travel, or just need something on the side, Twenix is worth a try. For me, it’s been a perfect fit.

Twienix is a very low-paying site that uses online teachers from all over the world, teachers who will work for a pittance. There are heaps of ESL in Spain, but they pay well below what they earn.

Ok so exactly how much IS the pay then?
