eHailuo Review

eHailuo (eHello, eHailo) is based in the Nanjing province. Non-native English speaking teachers can apply! They teach 1 to 1 classes to children and they pay $10 – $15 per hour. They use a lot of role playing activities as part of their teaching method. The website is a bit hard to navigate but you can email: feedback@ehailuo.com

Please leave your comments and review of eHailuo.

  • It's such a shame. I worked in Ehello for 2 years (or more). A month ago, I told my TA that I want to quit the job. She is ignoring my messages, she didn't empty my account, and I am not paid, and I don't believe I will ever get paid. I do not recommend this school to anyone!

Dear Jasmina, could you tell me which company is, currently, the best and the most reliable company to work for? I have just got an email from their HR manager, a Benjamin, however, having read your comment/review, as well as the reviews of other teachers on here, I will give some thought to whether or not I should carry on with the application process. Best regards!

  • I'm a Filipino teacher. I used to receive $4 for a 50-minute class. No bonuses, only $10 penalty for a missed class. Now I'm paid P120 or $1.20. They said it was temporary. Since last year, salary has been delayed. Before the pandemic, they'd send the payment two days after you're withdrawn your salary from the website. For over a year now, salary is sent 5 days to 1 week after cut off. There was a time it took 2 weeks. For several months last year, I had to subtlely ask why my salary wasn't sent yet. Recently, they posted a notice that although they will not reduce the teacher's rate (They reduced it to 30% last year) they are sending our salary on an installment basis. I have no idea if it's gonna be in 2 or 3 batches. I aired my concern about Paypal charges. I highly doubt they will be considerate.

  • Does any one know if its normal thats they reply from your demos class innterview in a month? ..
It's been over 3 weeks and havent gotten a reply from the company eHailuo or any update to see how I did on my interview

  • I was with the company for 4 months and overall, I also can't give them a good review.

The hiring process takes a while, about 3-4 weeks, very low pay. My bookings the first month and a half were great but then it just stopped, I thought it would be the opposite. If the bookings were consistent it wouldn't be a bad side gig as the job itself is easy.

The penealities are awful. What company have you ever heard that takes money away from your salary? That's an awful policy. You have to work 20 classes before you can apply for your salary. The gig only works as a side side side gig.

They beat around the bush if your bookings are slow and won't get an honest answer

  • They asked me to do an unpaid 50 minutes demo lesson with a student. I did not get the job and I feel that I was scammed as I actually worked for free. Don't fall into the trap of doing demos with enrolled or potential students for free.

  • I've been with them for 4 years (!)
I agree with all the negative reviews posted above. They've asked me numerous times to give up some of my salary due to Corona pandemic, which obviously I refused. They're late with payments these days, which was the ONLY thing they did right at first. Recently received a memo in which they're writing how they're planning to open up new schools in China (while asking teachers to give up their remuneration!!) Very fast staff turn over, most TA's unhelpful, poor English skills. Most of PPT materials provided are a joke, full of errors, and staff who made them don't understand natural conversation. You're told to promote China.. THey're basically a mini version of their own government, terrorising their staff by threatening them. Checks on work well done are very random, they might take away your cash when they deem your class comments written no done well, whole loads of other teachers' comments are much worse than yours. SLOOOOOOWWW website which doesn't have a security certificate. They can watch you having class any time on their platform. Don't work with this 'school' they're unprofessional, and absolute amateurs. They won't improve..!

  • Since February of this year, during the pandemic, Ehello has been requesting teachers to cut their hourly rate by 20% because it's been affected by the pandemic. It was voluntary until March, but by April they requested again. This time leaving teachers with no option but to say yes. Salary was timely before. They send payments 2 days after cut-off (you can choose every 2 weeks or once a month). But for 6 months now salary is sent 7 to 9 days later without informing the teachers, or at least posting notice when teachers can expect. I don't know when they're going to

  • I have worked for eHello 6+ months.

It gets mixed reviews on Glassdoor, but I can only relate my own experience which has been very positive.

Requirements are a Degree + TEFL (Natives and Non-Natives with neutral accent) - experience not necessary.

This I believe is largely due to the Interviewer , Trainer and TA I have been allocated . They are so committed, polite and helpful – unlike my other Chinese company where their staff are exceptionally unhelpful and arrogant. I am 55 and eHello didn’t even ask my age .

Initially, I was adamant that I only wanted to teach Adults and have done so for a few months – bookings were slow at first but they have really picked up and I have quite a few regulars now. I have also been asked to do First Lessons /Demo lessons for Adults – more money. I have recently started teaching one of their Reading programs (for 8 to 16 yr olds). No need for props, over-the-top TPR or background other than a plain coloured wall – just a lively personality. As a result, my schedule is really full with lots of variety with Adults and tweens .

Lesson material for Adults is a bit of a hit & miss at times , but you are easily able to improvise and infuse your lessons with your own life experiences.

Dependent on final demo , pay varies a lot for a 50 minute class (up to 14USD) + extra % for Group classes + extra % for the Kids classes. They are very strict on cancellation of lessons - however, students have to book 8 hours in advance and if they cancel you receive a small compensation – not much, but something.

  • I worked with them for 2 years. Their policies cover their students, not their teachers. I was charged for a class I tried to cancel a full week in advance because my messages were never looked at or answered. Student cancellations are OK and you get maybe $2 for late cancellations. Their material is full of grammar errors...I never got a raise...classes started out good but then dropped...I was told my profile didn't exist...they constantly change TAs so you never know who to talk to...definitely do not recommend!
