KK Talkee

KK Talkee Review

KK Talkee is another Chinese company that teaches Chinese children. They give 1 to 1 lessons and the classes are either 25 minutes or 50 minutes long. Students try out teachers during a demo class and then they can decide whether or not to book regularly with them. They want teachers who are available between 6-9pm Beijing time. I have read that non-native speakers are welcome to apply if they have a native level. A university degree, ESL certificate and teaching experience are not necessary but beneficial. The base pay is $16-$20 USD per hour, but they offer bonuses for attendance and performance.

Please leave us your comments and review of KK Talkee.

For those of you who got stuck at the “Classes Can Be Taught Every Week” field (like I did, lol), you’re literally required to tally the total amount of classes you’ll be able to do per week. This means, since each lesson is 25 minutes long, if you’re able to do 6 lessons a day that equates to 30 lessons per week on a Mon – Fri schedule. Insert that number in the “Classes Can Be Taught Every Week” field and you’re good to go.

I sent them an application but the response on their website was “please do not repeat delivery”. I have no idea what’s going on but it doesn’t seem like I’ll be getting a job here 🙁

Helen, it’s actually not fake teaching. All the teachers you see there are professional teachers. You’ve obviously don’t have great experience teaching super beginners. People like you are all big mouth about other teacher methods until of course you find yourself in the hot seat knowing other teachers can view your lessons. Then you’ll realize teaching is a lot harder than it seems. Its not easy for a lot of people but they try. So before you openly judge an entire panel of teachers ask yourself this first. 1. Did you have a successful demo with KK Talkee? 2. Do you even have a job?

Hi! I am really intrigued to find out where it was written that non-native speakers are welcome to apply if they have a native level. I don’t see any information about the requirements at all on their website.

Good morning. I am attempting to complete the application form, however, when I enter the detail of ‘classes can be taught every week’, it gives an error message in red? Kindly advise what I must enter in the ‘classes can be taught every week’ block? Regards, Vernon

A minimum number of booked hours is not guaranteed by the company. Actual teaching hours vary widely, in particular for newer hires.

  • Daniel

For anyone that is asking about what to put in minimum classes per week, they do say there that each class is 25 minutes so you can do the math and figure out how many classes you can give per week. For example working at peak hours means you will teach 6 classes every day.

Hello. I have a blurb to add.
I’ve been at the apply website (http://t.kktalkee.com/info.html) and am having a hard time getting the site to accept my application. The page says: “Please fill in the class hour”. Does that mean what hours I’d like to teach? If it does it will not accept the hours I’d like to teach. I’ve tried inputting SOMETHING that the page would accept to no avail. The phone number bit was also difficult; here’s a tip: if you’re applying don’t use any hyphens! It won’t accept them. Also, forget about adding the 1 in front of the number.
Final Straw: there’s no place that gives you contact info. Can’t send an email. And the Facebook page is NOT convincing. I’m not sure about working for a company that I can’t contact. I had the misfortune of working for one of those.

I submitted application for Tutor From Home to KKTalkee but not sure if the submission was received by KKTalkee. Please contact me if you did not receive my submission.

    • mikedveenstra@gmail.com

This website is not affiliated with KK Talkee. You must contact them directly. The chances are that because of the holidays and the fact it is the end of the year they are not hiring at the moment. I recommend that you try again in January.

Hi there, i checked this company, i checked the demos and i noticed that all teachers have some artificial approach to teaching, like fake smile, talking very slowly and behaving like the kids are with lower intelligence or something. I noticed that other teachers from vipkid, landi, abcpanda, waijioyi, orangetalk and ibestteacher have the same behavior.. i don’t know why they implement that way of teaching. I don’t have kids but if i had them i would never let them study with that kind of teachers with fake behavior. I wish companies implement more natural way of teaching, cause kids are smart and they can notice fake approach. I really like the conditions that these companies offer to teachers, but i just cannot apply to work for them, cause that way i will have to pretend and i will lose my personality as a teacher. It is really hard these days to find a nice company where you can express yourself and can be happy with the work in general.

    • Estee Booyens

Hi Helen, I feel exactly the same. I think the kids must think you are totally insane and stupid for going on like a maniac with too much TPR and mad happiness. I can’t see how any child could learn in a fake environment like that. Happy is good. Smiling is good. TPR is good. Going on like a clown is NOT good. The students either think you are stupid or that you think they are stupid. I have watched many children with their mouths open. staring shocked at an insane TPR maniac, too overwhelmed to respond.

    • Milan

Dear Helen, generally you are very right. However, keep in mind that we in countries as Serbia work for foreign companies for lower wages with MBA or BA and suffering in the worst possible capitalism. So, my smile will be natural in teaching jobs. May be not because of lessons, but this jobs warm my heart and hope. I believe that this the chance for me who love teaching Language.

Helen, Yeeeees!! When I was applying back in the day with VipKid, I thought they were nuts, too. I ended up working for them, then found Dada and Gogo were less obsessed with the fakeness, but they weren’t very good about tech support or teacher support. Now, I’m at Bula and the salary is lower, but they absolutely never asked any of this crap from me and totally defend their teachers. I’m much less stressed than when working for the fake ones!

      • Kate

Hello, Amy! May I know how much time did it take you to get a response from Bula? I applied 3 times 1 month ago and still no reply. I wrote them to all possible emails, I just wanted to know if they got my application because the website doesn’t seem to be working properly. Also, is it a legit company? Do they really pay? And what is the rate?

  • Jaron Kenny

I tried to fill out an application but I can’t send it because it tells me there is an error in the box titled “Classes can be taught every week” in the Teaching experience section.
    Can someone help please?

  • Neil Firth

Hi, tried to submit an application to this company several times. Thoroughly checked my applications, nothing flagged up but refuses to send. Can you help please.

  • Alan

Thanks for your detailed feedback, I’d like to give it a shot but I have no idea where to send my resume to, the website doesnt say

KK Talkee America is currently hiring online ESL teachers! I have been working for this company for 5 months now (going on 6) and I thoroughly enjoy working with my wonderful students and the lessons. Lessons are 1-on-1 and are either 25 minutes (G2 classes and below) with a 5-minute break to fill out lesson feedback report, or 50 minutes long (G3 classes and above) with a 10-minute break to fill out lesson feedback report. We currently use Zoom to deliver our lessons via screen share while using annotations to highlight words or objects, type sentences, etc, However, our company is working diligently on their own software which they hope to roll out sometime in the near future once all the bugs have been worked out and teachers’ and students’ needs have been met. With KK Talkee, the students “try you out” as a teacher during a demo class and then decide whether or not to book with you each week as a regular student. I see most of my regular students 2-3 times each week.

I want to apply here too. Do i need to put referral? How long does it take to get hired? How does their application process go? Iran what are the steps?

    • Evelyne Yacapin

      Hi!
I’m Evelyne Yacapin, an aspiring applicant for the said job. I would like to take advantage to take this opportunity to apply. I have been an English Tutor for more than a year for Korean and Chinese teens here in Philippines. You may e-mail me thru ely.fgb@gmail.com . Looking forward for your response. Thank you!

    • Dina Andrews

I attempted to apply here but never heard anything about my application. I have three years of teaching experience, nine years of experience working with children, a Masters degree and a TESOL Certification. Do you have any suggestions about how to be considered?

    • Goran

I am trying to apply for a position, but every time and whatever I put in the blank “Classes can be taught every week” in the experience section, there is a message underneath the box that says: “Please, fill in the class hour.” I need your advice on the application process. Thank you kindly.
